Behavior Reporting:
Students are responsible for recording the behavior color they leave on in PBIS each afternoon and discussing it with you. They will also record their color on a monthly calendar that they will keep in their binder.
Pink (Outstanding):
We make a BIG deal in class when a child reaches pink! Pink is earned for excelling at outstanding classroom behavior. Your child will be excited to share it with you! Students who earn pink will earn lots of pennies in the classroom to spend at our class store. Students who end their day on pink will have a note in PBIS! Students ending their day on pink will also earn 4 PBIS points.
Green (Ready to Learn), Blue (Good Choices), and Purple (Great Example):
Colors green - purple indicate your child is displaying appropriate and responsible behaviors conducive to optimal learning. Students ending their day on green will earn 1 PBIS point. Students ending their day on blue will earn 2 PBIS points. Students ending their day on purple will earn 3 PBIS points.
Yellow (Think About It):
Yellows are going to occur in a second grade classroom and indicates that your child may have made a choice they had to think about, however, did not have enough time to earn their way back to green or did not take opportunities to return to more positive learning behavior choices. As a part of their growth towards independence and taking responsibility for their own learning, students are to discuss yellow behavior directly with you. Yellow does not result in parent contact/teacher note home/contact. Please know that consistently distracting behaviors or more serious behavior occurrences result in orange or red (parent contact). Students consistently on yellow (not improving their choices or consistently thinking about their choices) are moved to parent contact colors. Students ending their day on yellow will not receive points in PBIS.
Orange (Teacher Consequence):
Students who end on orange have received a consequence for making behavior choices not conducive to an optimal learning environment. Many choices resulting in a student leaving on orange will result in a note home or through PBIS. Students ending their day on orange will not receive points in PBIS.
Red (Parent Contact):
Red indicates your child has made behavior choices that day that are not conducive to an optimal learning environment. Red behavior marks are accompanied by teacher contact. This may be in the form of a note from your child (reflection or letter), an email, note in PBIS, or a phone call. Students ending their day on red will not receive points in PBIS.
Colors that receive parent contact:
Pink
Orange (for most choices)
Red
Please note that the first couple of months of school, your child will be transitioning into second grade routines, procedures, and expectations. Many of which may be new to them. During this time, we will be setting the stage for the rest of the year. Yellow, orange, and red behavior occur more frequently the first two months of school than any other time. During this transitional time, please continue to reinforce the needs and benefits of positive behavior choices in school. You are welcome to contact me with questions at anytime.
Thank you for your support from home!
